Empowering youth to manage diabetes.

CAMP 2024 June 11, 12 and 13

Welcome to Camp.

Welcome to Camp Hot Shots! Camp is a wonderful opportunity for young children (ages 6-11) with Type 1 Diabetes to make new friends and to learn ways to manage and cope while living with a chronic illness. Diabetes can sometimes feel like an invisible and isolating disease, but our campers leave with a sense of community and belonging. Camp Hot Shots is all about empowering youth to manage diabetes and educate parents by providing:

• A safe, positive environment for children and young adults with diabetes

• Education regarding diabetes to help foster independence and self-discipline

• Activities to engage youth on managing their diabetes daily

2024 Dates for Camp are June 11, 12 and 13.

Our Mission

The mission of Camp Hot Shots is to empower youth to understand and manage diabetes through self-management and become self-disciplined and responsible. Our skilled medical staff will work with each child to help them understand and learn how to overcome the challenges of living with diabetes and to live a long healthy life.

Goals

  • To provide a positive, safe and healthy experience for children and young adults with diabetes

  • To educate children and young adults regarding diabetes and foster independence, self-discipline and responsibility

  • To promote that goals and aspirations are limitless if they properly manage their diabetes

  • To foster relationships between the children, young adults, staff, volunteers and parents/guardians that will last a lifetime

We want these children to know they are not alone in this battle and can do anything anyone else can do. They learn about diabetes in a fun and engaging way outside of hospital or clinical walls. They also learn from each other and develop friendships and make lifelong memories!

“Not only did I have fun, but I also learned how to become a better diabetic.”
