Sarah Longhini, Counselor and Former Camper
My name is Sarah and I was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes when I was nine months old. Camp Hot Shots has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. I was enrolled as a camper while my parents volunteered on the board. I loved every minute of camp as a kid because I was surrounded by people with the same diagnosis. They quickly became my role models. Since graduating as a camper, I have been blessed to volunteer as a counselor amongst other roles with the board of directors. Camp is an experience I look forward to sharing with my camp family and campers every year. I hope our campers continue to learn the same lesson I did: Diabetes doesn’t have to control your life.
In 2018, I received my B.A. degree from Creighton University. In August 2020, I graduated with my Masters Degree in Social Work from the University of Nebraska at Omaha. Currently, I am working to become a fully licensed mental health practitioner and work as a therapist in Omaha, Nebraska.
